FAQ's - Deception Valley Lodge
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Language:
The official language is English and the national language is Setswana. The Bushmen speak the San language and most of them also speak Afrikaans and a little English.
Currency:
Pula and Thebe (one Pula =100 Thebe). At the lodge payment can be made in Pula, or US$. All major credit cards accepted.
Banks:
Closest bank will be in Maun.
Visas and Pasports:
All visitors must have a passport valid for at least six months, and the means to leave the country, i.e., an outgoing ticket and sufficient funds. Some nationals of Commonwealth countries require visas to enter Botswana. Citizens of European Community countries, Scandinavia, USA and South Africa do not require visas.
Children at the Lodge:
We regret no children under 12 years unless by special arrangement.
Electricity:
Generator supplies 220 Volt AC electricity. Standard South African three-point plugs. All batteries must be charged at the main complex.
Dietary requirements:
Please inform our reservations of any special dietary requirements and we will do our utmost to oblige.
Communications:
HF radio contact with the Pretoria reservations office.
Emergencies:
All guests are covered by Europassistance emergency air evacuation.
What to take along:
Health: Anti-malaria tablets are advisable all year round. Other: Comfortable walking-shoes, sunhat, sunglasses, swimming costumes, binoculars, sun cream and camera. A light jacket is recommended for 4 x 4 Vehicle trips and in winter (April/ May to August/September). A warm jacket will be needed. Dress code at the lodge is casual.
