Isibindi Africa Lodges
Their passion for Africa and the enchantment of the wild places in South Africa is what prompted Brett and Paige Gehren to create their unique lodges: Thonga Beach Lodge in the St Lucia Wetland Park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Rhino Walking Safaris in the Kruger National Park, Isibindi Zulu Lodge at Rorke’s Drift and Kosi Forest Lodge at Kosi Bay, South Africa. Brett and Paige invite you to come and explore these unusual and exciting destinations in South Africa. Their lodges are small and intimate and focus on activities where guests experience the local highlights and interact with the environment and communities.

Their luxury lodges offer superb accommodation and first-class service with an emphasis on quality. Combining local knowledge and traditional architecture, these exclusive lodges are built in harmony with the environment to ensure a genuine African escape. A key element of the lodges is the upliftment of local communities and every effort is made to train and develop community members.
Thonga Beach Lodge
Set on the pristine shores of the Maputaland coast in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, this luxury lodge is the ideal place to discover one of the last unspoilt and undeveloped wilderness beaches left on the African continent. Thonga Beach Lodge is a magical place of tranquil swimming bays and snorkelling reefs, coastal forests, grasslands, bush, shimmering lakes and exquisite sandy beaches. Its crystal clear, warm waters offer unparalleled snorkelling and fantastic offshore scuba diving.
Kruger National Park – Rhino Walking Safaris
Rhino Walking Safaris specialises in luxury walking safaris in 12,000 hectares of pristine bushveld in the only wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. Follow elephant paths and rhino trails on foot through this environmentally sensitive area that offers the Big Five as well as a diversity of fauna and flora. Accommodation and service is of the highest quality and each safari is tailor-made to include a combination of camps.
Plains Camp
Plains Camp has four African explorer-style tents nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket, which overlooks the spectacular Timbitene plain with its abundant wildlife. This 8-bed camp is built in authentic pioneer tradition and reflects the ambience of a 19th century naturalist’s retreat. An Africana book collection and antique treasures take you on a journey to a bygone era.
Rhino Post Camp
Rhino Post Camp is set under magnificent Tamboti trees and is built with natural materials – stone, wood, thatch and canvas - to give it an authentic bush feel. Each suite is beautifully decorated and the bedroom and lounge area offer wonderful views of the riverbed. In the heat of summer, cool off in the swimming pool and watch the wildlife amble down to the waterhole for a midday drink. At sundown, enjoy a cocktail in the comfort of the lounge with its extensive wine cellar, cosy fireplace and bar.
Kosi Forest Lodge
Kosi Forest Lodge is the only private lodge in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve – an unspoilt wilderness that is part of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, now internationally recognised as a World Heritage Site. The 16-bed lodge offers comfortable accommodation, fine cuisine and caters for a host of estuarine, beach and wilderness activities. Explore this unique ecosystem by canoe or head for the beach and discover one of South Africa’s best ecotourist destinations.
Isibindi Zulu Lodge
Located in a private game reserve in the heart of the Anglo-Zulu battlefields, Isibindi Zulu Lodge rises majestically from the rugged bushveld and is the ideal place from which to enjoy an exhilarating cultural experience. The exclusive 12-bed lodge is an architectural celebration of the Zulu nation and is on the doorstep of the Anglo-Zulu battlefields of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana. Enjoy morning or evening game drives in the Isibindi Eco-Reserve, visit a traditional Zulu homestead or for the more adventurous, tackle the mighty Buffalo River and go on a white-water rafting adventure.
