Special Interest Safaris
Special Interest Safaris take place from November through to June. There are a number of special interest safaris available:
Liuwa Plains (December 2008, May and June 2009)

A new adventure to a remote Zambian wilderness with Robin Pope Safaris. With many of your activities guided by Robin Pope, you can explore the Liuwa plains brimming with birds and home to huge numbers of animals. The landscape is completely flat and the skies vast - here you really are in the middle of wild, remote and isolated lands. Min 4 per safaris. Max 6 unless a private group then max 8. Robin will be leading the safaris assisted by another guide.

Safari with Robin (5 March 2009)

Safari with Robin. Walk a ridge, spot fifty birds in a day and boat to the stork colony. This week gives you 3 days with Robin during the beautiful days of March.

Wild Dog Week (27 March 2009)

African Wild Dog Conservation (AWDC) has been operating in Zambia since 1998, carrying out conservation and research activities to conserve Zambia’s populations of this highly endangered species. The AWDC team is based with Nkwali camp and will be pleased to accompany you on activities and share their work with you.

Shoebill Safari

Want to see a shoebill stork? This is your safari. Itinerary Nkwali 6 nights, Shoebill, 2 nights, Kasanka 2 nights, Chongwe 4 nights Note: Due to the number of charter flights that have to be used on this trip, the costing is based on a min of 4, max 8 guests.

Digital Photographic Workshop (18 March 2009, 22 May 2009)

A group of max 6 guests will benefit from David’s expertise and improve their digital photography. David will accompany the guests on all drives, give advice, analyse results and also look at how to best use Lightroom. As well as wildlife, he will look at landscapes, macro work, birds, insects and people. This is a unique opportunity to benefit from the knowledge of a leading wildlife photographer and see the South Luangwa at its most colourful. Bring your own digital camera!

Kasanka Bat Safari (22nd November 2008)

Come and experience the amazing convergence of millions of “straw-coloured fruit bats” as they descend upon Kasanka National Park to feed on the abundant seasonal fruits. You will also have a chance to glimpse the beautiful sitatunga, and to see the black lechwe as they gather together to calve their young. The safari will continue at Nkwali Camp, where you will get to relish in the splendours of the Emerald Season in South Luangwa. 7 nights or 10 nights packages available.
