Come relax with us and enjoy the unique, world acclaimed flower extravaganza and that is Namaqualand in springtime.  Explore the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, it promises to be the best for 20 years. With the added bonus of whales, bushman rock art and a breathtaking canopy of stars. You-nique itineraries designed and hosted by expert Mick Hedderman, a traveller to nearly 50 countries, who rates Namaqualand’s flowers the most incredible natural sight he’s ever seen.

Meal Key -B: Breakfast L: Lunch D: Dinner

Day 1: Cape Town - Klawer. Our tour begins and after picking you up we drive to Posberg Nature Reserve. It’s  sure to be a riot of colour and we’ll picnic on the beach with a good chance of seeing whales. Moving on around the beautiful Langebaan Lagoon, we head for Clanwilliam and on down the magnificent Olifants River Valley to Klawer with flowers all the way.  We’ll  taste excellent  wines at the local winery.  In the evening we have a slide presentation by local flower expert Kobus Kritzinger. Accommodation: Klawer Hotel (Rooms with en-suite bathrooms; restaurant, bar and swimming pool) [L]

Day 2: Klawer – Knersvlakte – Gifberg Mountains. We have a specialist local guide for two of our days, Valerie Mentoor. We’re in her capable hands and  we plan  to drive north to Vanrhynsdorp viewing the profusion of flowers on our way to the famous ‘Knersvlakte’ with it’s unique array of rare succulents - a floral world in miniature! With the sun on our backs and the flowers in our face we meander back detouring to visit the Gifberg Mountains and its amazing waterfalls, rock formations and bushman paintings. Accommodation: Klawer Hotel (Rooms with en-suite bathrooms; restaurant, bar and swimming pool) [BL]

Day 3: Klawer - Niewoudville. We leave the Klawer Hotel for Vanrynsdorp for a short visit to the succulent nursery. Then it’s over the spectacular Van Ryns Pass with stunning views over the flowerlands;  flanked by the awesome bright red sandstone escarpment. Our destination is Nieuwoudville for a two night stay in a quaint guest house.  Supper is at a nearby restaurant including local a la carte specialities (own account). Accommodation:  Guest House in Niewoudville (Rooms with en-suite bathrooms) [BL]

Day 4: Niewoudville. Valerie joins us again for more ‘off the beaten track’ secrets. We’ll visit  the magnificent waterfall outside the town and the amazing Quiver Tree forest. We’re now in bulb country - hundreds of different species. The area boasts  more species of bulbs than any area in the world  many of them are found nowhere else! Accommodation:  Guest House in Niewoudville (Rooms with en-suite bathrooms) [BL]

Day 5: End of tour. Sadly our last day ,a leisurely drive back home spending time in the Clanwilliam  area, visiting the Ramskop Nature Reserve.  We  arrive in the Mother City in the late afternoon, invigorated by the trip of a lifetime [BL]
